Unlike traditional ablative lasers, Pixel Pro offers remarkable skin rejuvenation with faster healing and less discomfort while delivering dramatic anti-aging and resurfacing results.

Medical Restrictions & Contraindications

Who is NOT a Good Candidate?

🚫 Very dark skin tones (Fitzpatrick V-VI) – While some laser resurfacing options exist for darker skin, Pixel Pro may carry a higher risk of hyperpigmentation.
🚫 Active acne or skin infections – Open wounds or active breakouts should heal before treatment.
🚫 Recent sun exposure or tanning – Increases risk of burns, hyperpigmentation, or irritation.
🚫 Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals – Laser treatments are not recommended during pregnancy or while nursing.
🚫 Keloid-prone individuals – Those with a history of keloid scarring should consult their provider.

⚠️ Pixel Pro may not be suitable if you have:

  • Active skin infections, eczema, or psoriasis in the treatment area
  • Autoimmune disorders (such as lupus or vitiligo) that may react poorly to laser treatment
  • Blood disorders or clotting issues that increase risk of bruising
  • A history of skin cancer in the treatment area
  • Use of Accutane (isotretinoin) in the past 6 months – Can make skin highly sensitive to laser treatments
  • Recent cosmetic treatments (Botox, fillers, chemical peels, or microdermabrasion) – Should be spaced at least 2-4 weeks apart

Pre-Treatment Guidelines: How to Prepare

To ensure a safe and effective Pixel Pro session, please follow these guidelines:

❌ No sun exposure, tanning beds, or self-tanners for at least 2-4 weeks before treatment.
❌ Stop using retinoids, exfoliants, acids (AHA/BHA), and harsh skincare products 5-7 days prior.
❌ Avoid waxing, threading, or chemical peels in the treatment area for at least 1 week before.

❌ Hydrate well—drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session to aid skin recovery.

What to Expect During & After Treatment

During Treatment:

As the Pixel Pro laser creates micro-channels in the skin, you may experience a warm, prickling sensation. To enhance comfort, a numbing cream may be applied beforehand. The session typically lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area.

After Treatment:

Immediately after your session, your skin may appear red, feel tight, and experience mild swelling, similar to a sunburn. Over the next 3 to 7 days, your skin will naturally exfoliate and renew, revealing a smoother, more radiant complexion.

The intensity of redness and the healing process will vary based on the aggressiveness of the treatment. A milder session may result in minimal redness and quicker recovery, while a more intensive treatment can lead to deeper rejuvenation but a longer healing period. Your provider will tailor the treatment to your goals and tolerance level, ensuring optimal results.

Post-Treatment Care

Immediately After Treatment (First 24-48 Hours)

  • Redness & Warmth: Your skin may feel warm, tight, and look red, similar to a moderate sunburn. This is normal and can last between 24 to 72 hours, depending on the intensity of your treatment.
  • Swelling: Some clients experience mild swelling, particularly around the eyes. This usually subsides within 24-48 hours.
  • Gentle Cooling: You may use a cold compress or ice pack wrapped in a clean cloth to soothe the skin. Avoid applying ice directly to the treated area.
  • Hydration: Keep your skin well-hydrated by applying a fragrance-free, gentle moisturizer as needed. A hyaluronic acid-based serum can also help maintain hydration.
  • Avoid Touching Your Face: Do not scratch, rub, or pick at your skin. Allow it to heal naturally.
  • Skip Makeup & Harsh Products: Avoid makeup, exfoliants, acids (AHA/BHA), retinol, and active skincare ingredients for at least 5-7 days.

Days 2-7: Healing & Exfoliation

  • Peeling & Flaking: Your skin will start to shed and exfoliate naturally between days 3-7. Do NOT pick or force exfoliation—let it slough off on its own.
  • Moisturize Frequently: Your skin may feel dry and tight, so apply a gentle, hydrating moisturizer multiple times a day.
  • Stay Cool & Avoid Sweating: Heat and sweat can irritate the skin. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, and intense workouts for at least 5-7 days.
  • Sun Protection is a MUST: UV exposure can cause hyperpigmentation on healing skin. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen daily and reapply every 2 hours if outdoors. Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks.

Weeks 2-4: Skin Renewal & Collagen Production

  • Skin Sensitivity Continues: Your skin may still feel sensitive, especially to sunlight and strong skincare products. Continue using SPF daily and avoid direct sun exposure as much as possible.
  • Gradually Reintroduce Skincare: After 7-10 days, you can slowly reintroduce gentle exfoliants and active ingredients like retinol, vitamin C, and AHAs/BHAs if tolerated.
  • Results Become Noticeable: As collagen production increases, your skin will continue to improve in texture, tone, and elasticity over the next 4-6 weeks.

Long-Term Care & Maintaining Results

  • Hydration & Nutrition: Drink plenty of water and eat a skin-healthy diet rich in vitamins and antioxidants.
  • Consistent Skincare Routine: Maintain results by using hydrating, nourishing products and regular sun protection.
  • Regular Treatments for Best Results: For optimal improvement, a series of treatments is typically recommended, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, depending on your skin goals.
